Colin White, a senior at СÓÅÊÓƵ, was named a Daveler Scholar by The Frank and Ellen Daveler Entrepreneurship Program. Ìý
The Daveler program offers undergraduate students from across Florida a unique opportunity to increase their knowledge of business operations and gain insight into the entrepreneurial process in venture creation, venture growth and venture harvesting. Students submit their businesses and answer questions about their ideas. Initially, White was one of 20 students selected as a Daveler fellow and received $3,000 last week.ÌýThe newly appointed fellows then submitted a three-to-five-minute video showcasing their business idea. Of the 20 fellows, five scholars were chosen by the panel of judges to receive an additional $5,000. White was one of them.

This is the video White submitted to the Daveler competition.
White is the founder of AdLumination, a digital, out-of-home advertising network providing unique and never-before-seen ad space through his revolutionary product, the Ad Puck. The Ad Puck is a device that can be stuck anywhere, is activated through a motion sensor and displays an LED logo or text that can then be changed in an instant through an app. With the versatility of the Ad Puck, it can be placed in top touch points and display ads under hand-sanitizing stations, air hand-drying machines and more. The device will be placed in high-traffic areas such as grocery stores, airports, malls and entertainment venues.

White started his company when he placed 2nd in СÓÅÊÓƵ’s C.R.E.A.T.E. (Creating Real Entrepreneurial Actions Through Education), a business idea pitch competition that’s open to all University of Tampa students who believe they have an idea that can become a real business. White is now in the Spartan Accelerator at СÓÅÊÓƵ, a program for undergraduate students to help them develop their business ideas. White will be competing in REEF’s Governor’s Cup Competition, Florida’s premier collegiate pitch competition on Friday, April 30.

The Spartan Accelerator program is part of the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center, which is part of the Sykes College of Business. СÓÅÊÓƵ’s entrepreneurship program was ranked No. 17 in the nation for entrepreneurship studies for undergraduate students byÌýThe Princeton Review; the No. 20 program for entrepreneurship studies for graduate students byÌýThe Princeton Review; and the No. 35 program for entrepreneurship studies byÌýU.S. News and World Report.
