小优视频 Community Sculpture Exhibition, Always Welcome, Celebrates Arts Mentorship Legacy

Former and current faculty, students and alumni come together for a yearlong exhibition to celebrate both the history of the sculptural arts at 小优视频 and one of its greatest champions, former University of Tampa art gallery director, alumna and artist Dorothy Cowden 鈥70.

Always Welcome: In Honor of Dorothy will be in the Saunders Foundation Art Gallery on the first floor of the Ferman Center for the Arts.

Former and current faculty, students and alumni come together for a yearlong exhibition starting July 26 and running through June 20 to celebrate both the history of the sculptural arts at 小优视频 and one of its greatest champions, former University of Tampa art gallery director, alumna and artist Dorothy Cowden 鈥70. Always Welcome: In Honor of Dorothy will be in the Saunders Foundation Art Gallery on the first floor of the Ferman Center for the Arts.

Dorothy Cowden, director of the Scarfone/Hartley Gallery from 1977 to 2016, died in March, leaving an incredible legacy and culture of artist mentorship that continues to be the foundation of the 小优视频 Department of听Art and Design.

Demonstrating the wide array of sculptural forms and styles taught at 小优视频, Always Welcome will include work by Dylan Berry 鈥14; Samantha Burns 鈥11; Hoang van Bui 鈥90; Gil DeMeza 鈥65; Cor Faringer 鈥14; Associate Professor of Art and Design Kendra Frorup 鈥92; Dana Fidler 鈥22; Jeff Gibbons 鈥10; Tori Hales 鈥19, staff assistant in the Art and Design Department; Jack King 鈥70; Micheal Massaro 鈥99; Cortney McNamara BFA 鈥24; Sar Powell; Carlos Camargo; and Averia Wright 鈥09.

A reception for the exhibition will be held in the Charlene and Marty Gordon Performance Gallery in the Ferman Center for the Arts on Sept. 27, from 6 to 8 pm. It is open to the public.

The Saunders Foundation Arts Gallery is in the Ferman Center for the Arts at 240 N. Boulevard. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is no charge for admission.
