Rose Trentinella's academic interests include both ancient Greek and Roman art and archaeology and Italian art of the Renaissance. Although she often investigates each period on its own terms, she is particularly fascinated by their convergence, precipitated by the "rediscovery of antiquity" by artists and antiquarians in the 15th and 16th centuries that helped spark the artistic revolution of the Italian Renaissance.
Since relocating to Tampa Bay in 2012 Trentinella has focused on refining her classroom strategies by exploring new technologies and interactive approaches to teaching art history. This combination of passion for pedagogy and scholarly training have led her to the emerging field of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Art History (SoTL-AH). At St. Petersburg College's Conference on Teaching and Learning in April 2019 she presented her work on transforming face-to-face teaching techniques into asynchronous online activities. She looks forward to making further contributions to this exciting field.
Trentinella has also greatly enjoyed her recent experiences serving as a volunteer judge for a 鈥淣ational History Day鈥 competition at two middle schools in the Pinellas County School System, where she offered critiques and held mock-interviews with the 6th and 7th grade entrants that hope to advance to the next level of competition.
