Robert Apiyo's research specializes on the influence and adoptions of new media, specifically podcasts, among diasporan groups present in the US. Other areas of Apiyo's research include journalism, global media, gender, migration and Black media studies.
Professional and Community Activities
Most of Apiyo's professional work thus far has been in Kenya, the United States and Ghana, where together he has accumulated progressive radio broadcasting, production and digital storytelling experiences. He has presented his research at both local and international communication conferences, including in France and Canada. He also runs a 24-hour internet radio station, NNN RADIO, which highlights stories and the lived experiences of diasporan groups in the US, while also seeking to expose African music, culture and entertainment to the rest of the world. NNN RADIO is available on both AppStore and Google Play Store.
