Mission Statement
Our mission through the Student Government of СÓÅÊÓƵ is to support a unified student body. Through tireless dedication to service and providing an open forum for student voices, we respond with innovative ideas that reflect the concerns of the campus community. We are committed to establishing the benchmark for future student leadership.
Purpose
Student Government offers all undergraduate students the opportunity to bring positive change to the University community. It also enables members of СÓÅÊÓƵampa's diverse student community to have their opinions heard regarding campus policies, developing trends or new ideas.
General Assembly Information
Student Government General Assembly takes place weekly on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. in Reeves Theater located in the Vaughn Center. General Assembly acts as a safe space for any student to voice their opinion on anything related to Student Government or СÓÅÊÓƵampa-related in general. Attendance at these weekly meetings is required for all Student Government Representatives for organizations seeking to request appropriation funding.Ìý
Senate Information
Student Government Senate meetings take place weekly on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the second floor of the Vaughn Center in Room 219. Within these meetings, senators work together to provide funding to many organizations on campus. This funding goes towards events on campus, events off campus, conferences, etc., and is used to benefit the СÓÅÊÓƵampa community in general. Senators also consistently make updates to the Student Government bylaws and constitution to ensure the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Lunch with the Dean
Lunch with the Dean takes place every other Friday at noon in Ultimate Dining, located in the Vaughn Center. Our dean of students, Jenn Scaia, as well as our Student Government president and vice president, are in attendance. This is a safe space to ask questions and address concerns about our campus climate, learn about resources on campus and connect with other students. We will be having various themed lunches with special guests attending from all across the university to discuss resources with students. Come learn about resources at СÓÅÊÓƵampa. Your first lunch is free (on SG)! Learn more about Lunch with the Dean and stay up to date through the @utampasg Instagram!Ìý
How to get Involved
Student Government holds elections twice a year, once each semester. Incoming, by-credit Freshmen who are admitted for the Fall semester can run for a senator position between mid-September and mid-October. Freshmen who begin their studies at СÓÅÊÓƵampa in the Spring are eligible to run in the Spring elections, which typically take place from March to April. Elections offer an excellent opportunity to get involved with Student Government, but there are also many other ways to join the team! If you're interested in joining a committee, Executive Board, or Cabinet Board position, feel free to email us at sg@ut.edu or explore available openings on our Instagram!Ìý
